British director David Yates is to make the fifth Harry Potter movie.

He will direct Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for Warner Bros.

The film will also have a change of scriptwriter with Michael Goldenberg taking over from Steve Kloves.

In J K Rowling's fifth Potter book, Harry is faced with the unreliability of the very government of the magical world and the impotence of the authorities at Hogwarts.

The movie is scheduled to start production late next year and be released in the summer of 2007.

Yates directed the 1998 feature The Tichborne Claimant and the prize-winning TV dramas The Way We Live Now and State of Play.

He is also directing Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly in the upcoming Brideshead Revisited.
