Hanks to play rogue politician
Tom Hanks is to play a Texan congressman in Charlie Wilson's War
The congressman's liking for alcohol and women earned him the nickname Good Time Charlie.
Universal Pictures will make the drama from an Aaron Sorkin script, reports Variety.
Hanks and Gary Goetzman will produce the movie under their U-based Playtone banner.
The 49-year-old double Oscar winning Hanks will begin work on Good Time Charlie after he completes The Da Vinci Code for director Ron Howard and Sony.
The film will begin shooting early next year.
