Ashton's fan favour

Ashton Kutcher stunned the audience at the Teen Choice Awards by asking a fan to read his acceptance speech.

The heartthrob actor, who won Best Comedy Actor on TV and Best Male Personality on TV, plucked a lucky teenager out of the crowd to say thank-you on his behalf.

Hollywood funnyman Jim Carrey also delighted the crowd when he pretended to surf from the stage on his surfboard-shaped award, which he won for Best Movie Bad Guy in 'Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events'.

Paris Hilton - sporting a blonde bob haircut - scooped the prize for Best Movie Scream for her horror film 'House of Wax'.

The event, organised by America's Teen People magazine, was hosted by teen actress Hilary Duff, whose sister, Haylie, went home with the Best Female Breakout in Movies award.

Gwen Stefani opened the show with her hit song 'Hollaback Girl' and was delighted to win the Best Female Breakout in Music prize for her debut solo album, 'Love, Angel, Music, Baby'.

Romantic movie 'The Notebook' was the big winner of the night, scooping eight awards, while 'The O.C.' couple Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson triumphed, with awards for Best Chemistry on TV, Best Drama, Best TV Drama Actor and Female Hottie.
