New Bond 'best ever'

Daniel Craig is "the best-ever" Bond, according to the director of his first 007 movie.

Casino Royale director Martin Campbell says the much-criticised 38-year-old outshines Roger Moore, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.

Campbell, who directed Brosnan in Goldeneye, said: "I am convinced that Craig is the best actor who has ever played James Bond."

"We show that Bond will suffer from emotional and physical pain. Honestly, we couldn't do that with Pierce."

He added the film will have "fist fights" instead of computer trickery.

Craig shrugged off reports he can't drive a manual car and doesn't like guns by insisting he performs stunts.

He said: "It's incredibly physical."
