Spacey: 'I'm not retiring'

Kevin Spacey has denied he is quitting films.

There had been reports that he was giving up his Hollywood career in favour of stage acting

But Spacey told Variety.com he still loved making movies as well.

"In no way did I use the word retirement. Someone else pulled that out of thin air. It's false, there's not a lick of truth to it," he said.

"My priorities have changed. Theatre is the number one thing in my life. But I love movies and will continue to make movies when I can."

Spacey is only two years into a ten-year contract as artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre in London.

But he confirmed he will return as Lex Luthor in Superman: Man of Steel, which is due to be released in 2009.

Spacey has also joined the cast of Telstar, a film version of a West End play about the 60s record mogul Joe Meek.
