Winslet Plans Oscar Party

Kate Winslet is hoping for glory at next weekend's Academy Awards - but will celebrate with a party even if she doesn't walk away with a trophy.

The 33-year-old is nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in post-war drama The Reader and will fight it out with Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Melissa Leo and Meryl Streep for the honour.

But even if Winslet doesn't scoop gold on the night, she's still planning on marking her sixth Oscar nomination with a bash for friends and family.

She says, "You just don't know what's going to happen. This is my sixth nomination, so it will be the sixth time I've attended an Oscar ceremony and that in itself is a great honour."

"I don't take the nominations for granted. If it happens, then great. If it doesn't then I'm still going to have a party."
