Reese Witherspoon is staying in hospital with doctors trying to prevent her going into early labour, according to reports.

The actress, 36, was taken to a Los Angeles hospital on Tuesday evening, because of complications with her pregnancy.

It reported that the Walk The Line star, who is married to talent agent Jim Toth, was released that night and then taken to the hospital again on Wednesday.

"Doctors have sedated Reese and they're keen on keeping her from going into an early labour so the baby's development will go to full term,"

"Reese's husband Jim hasn't left her side and he doesn't plan to."

Legally Blonde star Reese has two other children, Ava and Deacon, with actor Ryan Phillippe, while this will be Jim's first.
