Pitt considers a Biblical role.


Brad Pitt is said to be considering the title role in Biblical drama Pontius Pilate.

The Hollywood superstar is "not committed" to the part of in the Warner Bros film as yet, reported Deadline.com.

Written by Woman On Top's Vera Blasi, the film follows the evolution of Lucius Pontius Pilate from the son of a Roman knight into a Roman prefect who presides over Jesus Christ's trial and makes the fateful decision to sentence Jesus to death.

Vera has said that in addition to "the available facts from Roman and Jewish history books and the four gospels", she will speculate to follow Pilate from childhood, showing his time in the military and his rise to political office.

She wants to use the character as a launching point for "an investigation of the politics of Judea at the time, and what it was like to be occupied by Rome".

Brad - last seen in gangster drama Killing Them Softly - has been busy with Marc Forster's zombie movie World War Z, Steve McQueen's Twelve Years A Slave and Ridley Scott's The Counsellor.
