Industry magazine Variety reports that the Harry Potter star will play Igor, Frankenstein's hunchbacked assistant.

The new take on Mary Shelley's classic novel is being written by Max Landis, writer of 'Chronicle' and son of director John Landis.

The plot is said to revolve around themes of 'friendship and redemption', with the film beginning production in the Autumn.

In the director's chair will be Paul McGuigan, known for helming 'Lucky Number Slevin' and Brit gangster film 'Gangster No. 1', as well as episodes of TV show 'Sherlock'.
