Jackman disappointed by Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman has revealed that X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) could have been better.

The Australian star, who reprises his role as Logan and his clawed alter-ego Wolverine in sequel The Wolverine, admitted the original 2009 film even fell short of his expectations.

"I had something to prove, and we could have done better," the 44-year-old told Entertainment Weekly.

"Somehow the first Wolverine movie ended up looking like the fourth X-Men - just with different characters. I left unsure if we'd achieved our goal, which was to make sure people understood my character."

Hugh said he felt hopeful that the sequel, which is directed by Walk The Line's James Mangold and is set in Japan, will rescue Wolverine's reputation and satisfy comic book fans.

"This movie will really get to his core. Fingers crossed that we've done it this time. I'm pretty confident we have." he added.
