Margot Robbie is set to play Harley Quinn in David Ayer's Warner Bros DC comics movie 'Suicide Squad'.

Speculated at the same time Robbie was first linked to a part in the film, the casting is now being reported as official.

For those unfamiliar with the character, Harley Quinn began life as Harleen Quinzell, a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum who attempted to analyze the Joker during one of his many stays…

Unfortunately for her, the Joker manipulated her into an infatuation with him, and soon had her ditching her doctor’s whites for a jester’s hat and a life of crime.

Robbie and possibly Leto will join a cast that is also rumoured to contain Tom Hardy, Will Smith and Cara Delavingne, with David Ayer behind the camera. Suicide Squad will open in the US on 5 August 2016.
