Biography

Eddie MurphyEDDIE MURPHY began his career as a stand-up comedian 24 years ago. He joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1981 and since then has gone on to establish a successful career on the silver screen.

Murphy portrayed four different characters in Coming to America in 1988. The following year, he made his directorial debut with Harlem Nights, a period comedy he wrote and starred in, opposite Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx. And in 1996, he portrayed seven different characters in the worldwide box-office smash The Nutty Professor.

More recently he starred in and produced Life, co-starring Martin Lawrence; the box-office hit Dr. Dolittle; the hit comedy Bowfinger, opposite Steve Martin; and as the voice of Mushu the Dragon in the animated hit Mulan.

Murphy can also be seen in Pluto Nash and his voice is featured, along with Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, in DreamWorks' Shrek. He is scheduled for the production on the sequel to Dr. Dolittle. In addition, he re-teams with director Peter Segal and producer Brian Grazer for Universal and Imagine on The Incredible Shrinking Man.
