Biography

Frances McDormandFRANCES McDORMAND won an Academy Award® for her portrayal of police detective Marge Gunderson in the acclaimed Coen Brothers film Fargo (1996) She was also Oscar® nominated in 1988 for her supporting performance in Mississippi Burning (1998)

She has also starred in the television movies "Crazy in Love," "The Good Ole Boys," "Talking With..." and "Hidden in America."

McDormand studied at the Yale School of Drama. Her Broadway stage successes include her Tony-nominated performance as Stella in "A Streetcar Named Desire." She also starred in "The Sisters Rosenzweig" at Lincoln Center and "The Swan" for the Public Theater.

More recently she starred as Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire" in Dublin at the Gate Theatre and then in Dare Clubb's "Oedipus" at the Blue Light Theater Company in New York City opposite Billy Crudup.
