The Golden Bowl is the second Merchant Ivory film edited by John Allen, the first being Cotton Mary, directed by Ismail Merchant. Allen lives in New York City where he has edited for directors John Turturro, Alexander Rockwell and James Ryan. Originally from Atlanta, Allen has made numerous short films in and about the South. Allen's work for producers like Martin Scorsese, Jonathon Demme and Darren Start has been screened on ABC, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and The Disney Channel, and garnered awards at festivals in six countries
