David Paul Dozoretz - Details

Biography

DAVID PAUL DOZORETZ (P.O.V.D.E. Visual Effects Supervisor) was pre-visualization effects supervisor on Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. He was the first computer artist hired to work on Episode I. He soon started up a new Animatics Department.

Simply put, animatics are "moving story boards," or moving "sketch" versions of shots in the rough cut of a film that will eventually be completed as final film footage. Dozoretz's technical expertise, combined with his knowledge of filmmaking, made him and his department an important part of the Episode I team, and helped give George Lucas a new level of creative control over the way his vision was realized on film.

Dozoretz also worked on Mission: Impossible, and more recently on Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge, to be released this Christmas by Twentieth Century Fox.
