Biography

RAINER BIENGER is a managing director of Cinerenta, where he is involved in the production of projects, the supervision of production, and worldwide distribution and sales. Some of the films on which he has worked include "A Map of the World," starring Sigourney Weaver, "Diamonds," with Kirk Douglas, Lauren Bacall and Dan Aykroyd, and the upcoming "How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog (2000) ," with Kenneth Branagh and Robin Wright-Penn.
Hailing from Germany, Bienger started his film career in international marketing, sales promotions and merchandising for several different studios, and also worked as a journalist. He later became a managing director of the production companies for the German media giant Bertelsmann in Hamburg. He went on to become a senior vice president at the Connexion Film Vertriabs und Produktions GmbH & Co. KG in Hamburg, dealing with film rights, film production and worldwide distribution. In 1997, he joined Cinerenta GmbH as an advisor, before being named managing director in 1998.
