Born in Chennai, India, Santosh Sivan graduated from the National Film
and
Television Institute and initially made his career as a
cinematographer. Over that time
He won 9 National Film Awards from over 40 films. His move into
direction came
with The Terrorist (aka Malli), for which he also won a National Award.
International success with the film has followed, including a
nomination for best
foreign film at this year’s Independent Spirit Awards.
