Biography

MARIUS DeVRIES' first worked with Baz Luhrmann as co-composer and co-producer of the original music for William Shakespeare's ROMEO and JULIET (1996). He also composed the original score for Stephen Elliott's EYE OF THE BEHOLDER (1999). While spending most of 1999 and 2000 in Australia as musical director on MOULIN ROUGE (2001), DeVries has worked with David Bowie (on the singles "Seven" and "Survive"), and co-produced tracks with Bjork and Perry Farrell for their forthcoming
LPs.

As a record producer and songwriter, DeVries has worked with on LPs for
Madonna (RAY OF LIGHT and BEDTIME STORIES), Neil Finn (TRY WHISTLING
THIS), Robbie Robertson (CONTACT FROM THE UNDERWORLD OF RED BOY), Mel C (NORTHERN STAR), Bjork (POST and DEBUT), Massive Attack (PROTECTION), and Annie Lennox (DIVA and MEDUSA).

DeVries also worked with Bono, Nellee Hooper and The Edge on "Hold Me
Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me" (the title song for the film BATMAN FOREVER), contributed to Tina Turner's title song for the James Bond film GOLDENEYE, and co-produced tracks with David Gray for the movie
THIS YEAR'S LOVE (1999).

DeVries was nominated for Grammy( Awards for Madonna's RAY OF LIGHT
album, and for Robbie Robertson's CONTACT FROM THE UNDERWORLD OF RED BOY. He won BAFTA and Ivor Novella awards for his work on William Shakespeare's ROMEO and JULIET (1996).
