Born December 11, 1959, the oldest son of legendary filmmaker, Bruce Brown. Learned to surf at 6 years old. Given his first 8mm film camera at 10 from which a few dozen westerns, cop movies, and surf movies were produced. Later in life, Dana has worked as a free-lance writer for Surfer, Surfing, Kima, the Santa Barbara Independent, and many others. In 1988 his father employed him to reconstruct 5 early Bruce Brown surf films. Dana was bitten once again with the filmmaker's bug. Since then Dana has directed, edited, and written over 35 projects.
