Antwone Fisher is an uplifting story about the indomitable human spirit, and all that. While the path may be familiar, first-time director Denzel Washington and a top-notch cast manage to keep things interesting.
In real life, Antwone Fisher is a former U.S. Navy man who has overcome a particularly heart-breaking childhood, and in part through writing the screenplay for this film about his life. His memoirs, Finding Fish, also became a bestseller.
