Grand Theft Parsons : About the Cast

JOHNNY KNOXVILLE - Phil Kaufman
Johnny Knoxville shot to fame in the TV show Jackass in which he starred, as well as being on eof the creators and producers. Singleminded, with a love of danger and fondness for sweet talking his way out of a sticky situation, Knoxville shares a lot of characteristics with Kaufman. Jackass: The Movie was No. 1 at the box office and was described by The New York Times as "like a snuff film with a Hollywood ending: Young men torture themselves and one another for fun, but nobody dies or is seriously injured". Knoxville also played the two headed monster in Men in Black II and he can next be seen in Walking Tall with the Rock for MGM.

CHRISTINA APPLEGATE - Barbara Mansfield
Christina Applegate plays Gram Parsons' fictitious girlfriend Barbara Mansfield. Christina says, "She's a gold digger who feels she's been sold short throughout life and is now out for what she believes is rightfully hers." Christina is instantly recognisable to US audiences familiar with the hit sitcom Married… With Children.

Christina has recently been shooting the films EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH starring Matt Dillon and ANCHORMAN starring Will Ferrell and will be seen in WONDERLAND opposite Val Kilmer. Her recent films include SURVIVING CHRISTMAS starring opposite Ben Affleck, THE SWEETEST THING starring opposite Cameron Diaz and A VIEW FROM THE TOP starring opposite Gwyneth Paltrow and a guest role in FRIENDS as Rachel's sister.

MICHAEL SHANNON - Larry Oster-Berg

Michael grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, and began his professional stage career in Chicago. Over the next several years, he continued working on the stage with such companies as Steppenwolf, The Next Lab and A Red Orchid Theatre. He subsequently relocated to London for a year, and performed on stage in London’s West End in such productions as “Woyzeck,” “Killer Joe” and “Bug.”

He has appeared in John Waters’ “Cecil B. Demented” and in Joel Schumacher’s war drama “Tigerland.”, Pearl Harbour and Vanilla Sky and High Crimes opposite Morgan Freeman.

Shannon was seen earlier this year in the hit movie, Kangaroo Jack and can be seen in 2004 in Jerry Bruckheimer’s “Bad Boys II”.

Michael Shannon plays hippie Larry Oster-Berg. Shannon was renowned on set for his filthy, curling toenails. Knoxville says, "he has the most fungus infected toenails I have ever seen on a man". Of course Knoxville couldn't resist snipping a piece off, cutting it in two and leaving it as a present in co-stars Christina and Marley's palms.

ROBERT FORSTER - Stanley Parsons
Robert Forster plays Gram Parsons' father Stanley Parsons. Forster made his film debut in Reflections in a Golden Eye opposite Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor in 1966. Forster says his career had "a five year upwards first act and a 25 year second sliding act". This sliding act turned around when he was cast as Max Cherry in Jackie Brown, a role written specially for him by Quentin Tarantino and for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He hasn't stopped working since. His credits include Lakeboat, Diamond Men and Strange Hearts as well as many independent films (It's the Rage, The Magic of Marciano, Outside Ozana, Family Tree). He can next be seen in the Charlie's Angels sequel Full Throttle.

MARLEY SHELTON - Susie
Marley Shelton plays Kaufman's girlfriend Susie. Her credits include The Bachelor, Never Been Kissed, Pleasantville, Sugar and Spice and Nixon. She can next be seen in Molly Gunn.

GABRIEL MACHT - Gram Parsons
Gabriel Macht plays Gram Parsons. Macht dyed his hair for the role and listened to tapes of Parsons' voice to pull off a convincing impression of the star. Macht's previous credits include Bad Company, American Outlaws, The Object of My Affection, The Adventures of Sebastian Cole and The Recruit opposite Al Pacino and Colin Farrell. On television his credits include the NBC/Dreamworks' series The Others and the made-for-TV biopic Audrey Hepburn
