The premiere of Shrek 2 took place on Monday and to co-inside with the National premiere, three regional premieres took place in Cardiff, Manchester and Edinburgh. All of these premieres were sponsored by Sky Movies and you can see their great Shrek 2 weekend from July 2nd.
To coincide with the release of Shrek 2, Sky gets into an equally animated mood with a Shrek 2 Weekend, featuring a half-hour special dedicated to the record breaking movie (2nd July at 9.40pm on Sky Movies 2).
To celebrate the return of everyone's favourite ogre, DreamWorks opened the doors of their amazing new studios for the first time to Sky Movies for some fascinating behind the scenes footage. Also featured in the Shrek 2 Special will be an exclusive UK interview with John Cleese, whilst Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers and the rest of the cast and crew talk us through their part in the making of the movie. Viewers will also get an insight into the new techniques used in the state-of-the-art animation and, of course, have a chance to see clips from the movie.
In Shrek2, the fairytale continues as Shrek faces his greatest challenge of all - his in-laws! Joining the original cast of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy as Shrek, Fiona and Donkey are an all-star voice cast including: Julie Andrews and John Cleese as Fiona's royal parents, Queen Lillian and King Harold; Antonio Banderas as deadly assassin Puss In Boots; Rupert Everett as Prince Charming, and Jennifer Saunders as the Fairy Godmother.
Sky Movies' Shrek 2 Weekend (2nd - 5th July) is a weekend of great movies featuring the Shrek 2 cast - including Cameron Diaz in the Saturday Night Premiere of Gangs of New York. Kick-starting the weekend is comedy king Mike Myers, who voices the loveable ogre, Shrek and can be seen in Austin Powers in Goldmember and Wayne's World 2 (2nd July from 8pm on Sky Movies 2). Cameron Diaz, the voice of Princess Fiona can also be seen in The Sweetest Thing as well as Gangs of New York (3rd July from 7.30pm on Sky Movies 2) whilst smart donkey Eddie Murphy can be seen in I Spy and Showtime.
