The Looking Glass Wars

Frank Beddor is a man with a unique vision. He is in the process of building a one-man entertainment industry out of a single inspirational moment. His story ideas are so ambitious and far-reaching that they have been compared to Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings.

It all began back in 1998 when he was in London for the premiere of the breakout hit movie There's Something About Mary, which he produced. He took a day off from press interviews to visit the British Museum, where he was fascinated by an exhibit of antique cards, particularly a set of playing cards reminiscent of the Alice in Wonderland characters. He had been forced to read the Lewis Carroll book as a child and had dismissed it as "a boring girls' story." As an adult he saw it differently and proceeded to research the real-life story behind the Carroll books.

After years of research he wrote what he says is the true story, under the title The Looking Glass Wars. Not only does his book, published in the U.K. and many other countries, tell of a different, darker, more perilous Wonderland, but it also tells of a very different Alice Liddell, the seven-year-old girl for whom Carroll (real name the Rev. Charles Dodgson) wrote his "Alice" books. The Looking Glass Wars is the first in a trilogy and Beddor is currently writing the second book. Beddor says that the story arc in this large universe allows him to utilize numerous mediums to tell the entire Looking Glass Wars saga.
