2001 Maniacs

"The greatest gore epic in years." Darkside Magazine

"Strap yourself in and get ready to have a hell of a maniacal, gore-soaked good time." Dread Central

"Refreshingly vulgar... Extremely sadistic humour and gore." Fangoria

Batten down the hatches, take to your bed, pray for help, do anything in fact to save yourself because the 2001 maniacs have arrived! A film so gorey that cinemas are too afraid to allow it in (horror film fests excepted!), Momentum Pictures has decided the only option is to unlease the monstrous yet enticingly maniacal 2001 MANIACS straight on to the DVD format with a 2 October 2006 rental and 23 October 2006 release, and a plethora of bloody extras into the bargain.

2001 Maniacs dvd2001 MANIACS is without doubt one of the most violent of thrill rides ever filmed, served with a side order of continuous and gratuitous nudity from a bevy of gorgeous girls, which is unsurprising when you consider its pedigree. Produced by Raw Nerve, a new horror production company formed by the terrible trio of Eli (Cabin Fever) Roth, Scott (Evil Dead) Spiegel and Boaz (Remember the Titans) Yakin, the film also stars perhaps the horror genre's best known and enduring icon, Robert (Freddy Krueger) Englund, along with the luscious actress and playboy model Christa Campbell.

Directed by Tim Sullivan, the film is a "re-imagining" of the 1964 Hershchell Gordon Lewis classic Two Thousand Maniacs, and, if you liked The Devil's Rejects, you're going to love 2001 MANIACS. Completely and unashamedly un-PC, there's something to offend everyone in 2001 MANIACS, allowing the viewer to get sucked into a world of pure hatred and brutality, a world that will make you squirm and scream whilst for some strange and worrying reason putting a smile on your face.

So don't delay and begin the preparations for a horrifically entertaining time as we follow the exploits of teenage travellers who take a wrong turn and wind up becoming the planned main course for the hungry residents of a strange little town. A throwback to good old-fashioned blood ‘n guts and T & A horror.

Synopsis

A group of good looking teenage Americans follow a bogus detour sign and arrive in the town of Pleasant Valley, whose residents are hard at work preparing for the weekend 'Guts and Glory' Jubilee. The lost travellers are declared 'guests of honour' by the one-eyed Mayor Buckman, played by everyone's favourite sadist Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street). The teenagers soon realise that they have become the star attraction of the Jubilee banquet and must fight if they are to get out of Pleasant Valley alive.
