A unit of soldiers a sent to destroy a target, but when they refuse to play a part in the murder of 25 Bolivian children being used as drugs mules they themselves become the target of the mysterious Max. Their helicopter is blown up, but they were not aboard, the rescued children were. The team vow to get their revenge on Max.

Losers, The (2010)Jeffery Dean Morgan (Watchmen) is Clay, the Loser's squad leader. He puts in a solid performance. I think his looks, mannerisms and even acting capabilities are not unlike that of Robert Downey Jr. If he can rise to that level of fame I think he’ll be pleased. Chris Evans ever the funny man these days but also showing a level of acting ability that few might have imagined him capable of, puts into another great performance, to go alongside his super cameo in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. Jason Patric does a decent job as Max and Zoe Saldana adds to her list of feisty characters with this film.

The screenplay was written by Peter Berg will also wrote one of my favourite black comedies – Very Bad Things – you can see some of the dark humour that he brings to a script.

The direction is solid and the production values are high. This is a well made, well written film with some great comedy moments, mostly thanks to Chris Evan’s comedic abilities, and several enjoyable action sequences. I’d never heard of The Losers before seeing this film however it’s a fun popcorn movie (suitable for everyone from 12 and upwards) that I imagine will please fans of the comic books and will no doubt encourage new fans of the pulp material as well.

The Losers is released as two limited edition Blu-ray and DVD combipacks. One will include a Losers comic and the other will include special artwork designed and printed by animator Jock.
