Born Dwayne Johnson to a Samoan mother and an African-Canadian father, the pop icon boasts an impressive pedigree on both sides of his wrestling roots. His father, the legendary Rocky 'Soulman' Johnson, is best remembered as a three-time WWF tag team champ with Tony Atlas.
The Rock's late father-in-law, High Chief Peter Maivia, hailed from Samoa, a tiny Pacific Island which lay about halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand. The soft-spoken Samoan's feared and respected wrestling family came to America and set the standard of how proud professionals should handle themselves in the ring.
