Eiger Sanction, The (1975) - Details

Retired CII assassin Jonathon Hemlock (Clint Eastwood) is put back in harness through a combination of blackmail, trickery, and the promise of a chance to settle an old score. CII needs Hemlock, an accomplished mountain-climber, because one of his "sanction" targets will be climbing perhaps the deadliest peak in the Alps, the Eiger ("Ogre"). Hemlock must go up the fearsome Ogre's Wall, the North Face of the Eiger, still not sure who his man is and not certain whether his target or the mountain will kill him first.
