Jimmy Show, The (2001) - Details
Based on the Jonathan Mark Sherman play Veins and Thumbtacks, this film, set in the 1970s and '80s, is about Jimmy (Ethan Hawke), a failed New Jersey inventor who abandons his work to become a stand-up comedian. Audiences on the amateur comedy circuit aren't known for their gentility, and following several disastrous shows, Jimmy takes up a new "profession," boozing, which further strains his relationship with his family.
