L.A. Twister (2003) - Synopsis

L.A. Twister is a "cut-throat" satire about the movie industry and not just another Hollywood Story. This tale of the underdog depicts two friends who are determined to ride a system that is governed by money and sex. Playing and being played is the nature of the game.

Ethan, quite sensitive and almost too good for this world, has just been dumped by his wife and seeks comfort in the shabby apartment of his buddy, Lenny. Unlike Ethan, Lenny is a prick and a threat to humanity. So it is not surprising when he can't relate to his friend's emotional meltdown. His solution to any problem is a Budweiser and sex with varying partners. But never the less Lenny is fiercely loyal to his old pal and determined to help out. He convinces Ethan to join in on a mission of making it big in Tinsel town.

As the story unfolds we meet the usual suspects in a very unusual setting. The casting couch is given a twist when Lenny is offered the big part in return of making love to a grossly unattractive agent. Needles to say, he doesn't think twice. A horny rich woman seduces Ethan and he finds himself having sex with her on the same bed shared by her very recently deceased husband. A has-been star stiffs them for a big bill and two metaphysical strippers turn out to be the only trustworthy people in town. Too eager or too naïve, Ethan and Lenny can never really win in this knock-about farce about the reality of failing miserably.

As they make their way through the underbelly of show business just enough self-respect survives and sets them on a path of redemption. The story ends on a twist that surprises everyone, even Ethan and Lenny.
