Prey for Rock & Roll (2003) - Synopsis

PREY FOR A ROCK & ROLL delivers Gina Gershon in a smashing performance as Jacki, a no-bullshit rocker struggling to keep herself and her band together. Despite her wicked wit and undeniable sex appeal, Jacki fears that getting older will end her career in the image-driven world of rock. Jacki and her bandmates Tracy (Drea De Matteo), Faith (Lori Petty), and Sally (Shelly Cole), survive it all: dangerous sex games, a loveable ex-con (Marc Blucas), internal friction, and industry slime balls. Through it all -- they are unstoppable..

Propelled by an adrenaline fueled soundtrack written by Lovedog and sung by Gershon with musical performances by Samantha Maloney (Hole) Sara Lee (B-52s) Gina Volpe (Lunachicks) and produced by Stephen Trask (Hedwig & The Angry Inch) and with a bonus track written by Linda Perry (Pink, 4 Non Blondes) and Gina Gershon. PREY FOR A ROCK & ROLL is a funny, sexy tale of friendship, passion and survival.

Based on Cheri Lovedog's autobiographical rock musical, PREY FOR A ROCK & ROLL was originally developed and produced for the stage by FatChance Productions and performed at CBGB in NYC – it features appearances by LA rocker Texas Terri. PREY FOR A ROCK & ROLL premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and will be coming to screens nationwide this fall. PREY marks the feature film directing debut of esteemed music supervisor Alex Steyermark.
