Elizabeth Banks Will Direct and Star in The Invisible Woman for Universal.

Elizabeth Banks is set to direct "Invisible Woman" for Universal, which is based on her own original pitch.

Banks is developing an original take based on the classic Universal title and is attached to star in and direct the feature project. She also will produce along with her husband Max Handelman via the duo's Brownstone Productions.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say Banks’ pitch is very different from the "Invisible Man" film coming out in February that stars Elisabeth Moss, and there is no crossover potential on either film.

Described as "Thelma & Louise meets American Psycho", the screenplay for the new Invisible Woman was written by Erin Cressida Wilson and is based on a pitch by Banks, according to Variety, who also reports that Invisible Woman is not expected to be connected story-wise to Leigh Whannell's The Invisible Man.
