Gemstar/TV Guide has sued EchoStar Communications, which operates the Dish satellite service, for allegedly using its interactive TV guides without permission. It is seeking unspecified damages. Meanwhile, the company announced Monday that it plans to pull out of the Magazine Publishers of America, the largest magazine trade group, because it is now evolving "into a multi-industry, multi-platform media and technology company."
