LIZA MINNELLI is selling her Los Angeles home because she's too ill to make trips to Hollywood.

The New York-based singer is currently hospitalised in Florida for viral encephalitis - a serious illness which prompted a reunion with her long-lost sister LORNA LUFT.

And now the 54-year-old CABARET star is unable to visit her elderly step-mother LEE (corr) ANDERSON, who lives in the Beverly Hills home.

Minnelli has put the Regency abode on the market for $3.5 million dollars (£2 million) - and sources say Lee is being transferred into an elderly home, because Liza is too sick to care for her anymore.

Real estate agent HOLLY DAVIS says, "Liza thinks it's time to get rid of the property now. Lee will be going into a home. "Liza spent her early years living in the house with her mother JUDY GARLAND and VINCENT MINNELLI, the house is full of pictures of Liza when she was a child, the remnants are everywhere."
