Apple Original Films Lands 'Causeway' Starring Jennifer Lawrence.

Apple Original Films has added A24 Jennifer Lawrence drama Causeway to its slate and is planning a global debut in theatres and on Apple TV+ later this year.

The Oscar-winning actress will produce and star in the drama about a veteran having a hard time transitioning to life at home in New Orleans.

Lila Neugebauer, who recently directed Broadway’s revival of Kenneth Lonergan's play "The Waverly Gallery" to great acclaim, is directing "Causeway" in her feature film debut. The story follows a soldier struggling to adjust to her life after returning home to New Orleans. "Atlanta" actor Brian Tyree Henry co-stars alongside Lawrence.

Along with Justine Ciarrocchi, Lawrence is set to produce and star in two other films for Apple, Adam McKay's Elizabeth Holmes biopic "Bad Blood", and an untitled Sue Mengers biopic directed by Paolo Sorrentino. Also on Lawrence’s slate is the Gene Stupnitsky comedy "No Hard Feelings."

Apple has already seen success with original films, as they bought CODA for $25 million last year. The film went on to win three Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. Apple became the first streaming service to take home the top prize at the Academy Awards after launching in 2019.

Apple has a busy schedule ahead, including Raymond & Ray starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke; The Greatest Beer Run Ever starring Zac Efron; Spirited featuring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell, and Martin Scorcese's highly anticipated Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
