Idris Elba, David Leitch Team Up for Bang! Film Adaptation at Netflix

Idris Elba and director David Leitch are teaming up for Bang!, an adaptation of the Dark Horse Entertainment comic for Netflix.

"Bang!" is based on the comic series of the same name by Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres and will be directed by David Leitch. In the film, when a terrorist cult sets out to start the apocalypse with a series of novels meant to brainwash their readers, the world’s most celebrated spy is sent to track down and kill the author responsible.

Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres penned the comic with Kindt and Zak Olkewicz serving as writers on the film. Leitch, Kelly McCormick, Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will produce

Bang! isn't the only comic-based project Elba has up his sleeve at the moment. Regarding his role in DC's The Suicide Squad as Bloodsport, he said in 2021, "I'm excited about the possibilities in the DC world." Elba also expressed an interest in returning to the role of Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe despite the character's on-screen death. "I think that the constraints of the superhero universe are none, so everything is possible, and I think that Heimdall is an amazing character and still exists." Elba recently made a cameo as Heimdall in a Thor: Love and Thunder post-credits sequence. The scene takes place in Valhalla, which confirmed that the character is still present in the MCU, albeit not currently in the mortal realm.
