DR. Laura Bumped To Never-Never Time Slot

Virtually assuring the demise of Dr. Laura Schlessinger's TV talk show, all of CBS's owned stations have removed the show from afternoon time slots and shunted it into middle-of-the-night periods. A CBS statement said, "The program got off to a slow start when it premiered nine weeks ago and since then has seen further ratings erosion."

The show had been the focus of attack by gay organizations who were outraged by Schlessinger's comments about homosexuality on her radio show. (she has never mentioned the matter on TV.) In a statement, Joan Garry, executive director of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), said: "We may not know who's going to win today's presidential election, but we know that television audiences have cast their ballots against Laura Schlessinger in a referendum on her divisive, abusive messages of intolerance."
