Harrison Ford Cast as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross in the MCU.

Harrison Ford has reportedly joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe – a development that has both delighted and amused fans.

Rumours had been swirling for weeks that Marvel was eyeing Ford to take over the role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross from the late William Hurt, who played the character in numerous films between 2008 and 2021.

Ford will be cast as Ross for multiple films, with his debut reportedly set to come in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order before joining another ensemble cast. He will also appear in the team-up movie Thunderbolts which was shown off at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The film is designed to be the finale to the MCU's Phase 5, and the full cast was announced at the time. Ford will be joining Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah-John Kamen, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Marvel's biggest team-up movie since Avengers: Endgame.

Gen. Ross was previously played in the MCU by actor William Hurt, who passed away earlier this year. He had first appeared in 2008’s "The Incredible Hulk", and went on to make appearances in "Captain America: Civil War", "Avengers: Infinity War", "Avengers: Endgame" and "Black Widow".
