William H. Macy Joins Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes.

Fargo star William H. Macy will appear in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which picks up after Matt Reeves' epic War for the Planet of the Apes.

The Maze Runner franchise helmer Wes Ball is set to direct the new movie in the franchise from a screenplay written by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. While the plot details of the film are scarce, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will serve as a new chapter in the franchise. It is expected to be set many years after the events of War For the Planet of the Apes. Principal photography began in Disney Studios Australia in October.

Macy joins fellow cast members Freya Allan, Owen Teague and Peter Macon in a to-be-announced role.

Macy is best known for his work in the Coen brothers' Fargo and Showtime's Shameless. He earned an Oscar nomination for the former and six Emmy nominations for the latter.

War for Planet of the Apes saw the end of Caesar’s (played by Andy Serkis) journey. Little is known about the plot for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, but it will likely take place many years later and, based on the title alone, explore how Caesar's legacy turned out on an Earth primarily dominated by the apes. The sequel could see the ramifications of such an environment and how the apes decide to deal with the remaining humans.

The various incarnations of the "Planet of the Apes" franchise have made more than $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office.
