Madonna biopic starring Julia Garner scrapped as singer embarks on world tour.

The highly anticipated biopic of Madonna, to be directed by Madonna herself, has reportedly been scrapped.

Despite a long casting process to hire someone to play the Queen of Pop, Madonna has scrapped the biopic film she was going to direct herself and is instead going to go out on tour.

Madonna's biopic was announced in 2020, and since then, had cast Julia Garner to star as Madonna from her early years. This was after news that Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie, Odessa Young, and Bebe Rexha were all competing for the part, enduring intense auditions, which were 11-hour boot camps.

Madonna was to have directed the biopic on her own life and career and co-wrote the script with Diablo Cody and Erin Cressida Wilson. Amy Pascal was to produce.

It’s believed that Madonna may pick the project back up once her tour ends.

Madonna: The Celebration Tour will visit 35 cities across the globe, kicking off in North America in July. The singer will then head onto cities including Barcelona, Paris, and Stockholm.

The singer aded a second London tour date following overwhelming ticket demand.
