Dwayne Johnson confirms that he is returning for a new Fast & Furious movie which will be set between the events of Fast X and the upcoming Fast 11.

Johnson announced the news today on social media, the action star is set to lead a currently untitled new 'Fast' project at Universal. Franchise regular screenwriter Chris Morgan, who last penned "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw", is handling the script.

In the posting today, Johnson says his famous feud with Diesel is over:

"Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We'll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.

Despite us having our differences, me and Vin, we’ve been like brothers for years. When you lead with the idea of, number one, resolve, but also…you just think about the future, you just think about plans that are much bigger than ourselves. And those bigger plans are the bigger build-outs, those bigger plans are the North Star."

In 2019, The Rock starred with Jason Statham in the first spinoff of the saga, Hobbs & Shaw, with which it was planned to launch a new cinematographic universe separated from the main story, with a new team that would have them as leaders and include other big stars like Chris Rock and Ryan Reynolds. However, the project did not continue and it seems that it will not, at least for now.

Audiences last got a glimpse of Hobbs in the post-credit scene for Fast X, where he received a chilling message from the film's primary antagonist Dante (Jason Momoa), who is on a mission to bring down anyone he sees as having a role in his father's death. The appearance was obviously exciting for fans, who were not expecting to see Johnson in the film, following a widely publicized falling out between him and franchise star Vin Diesel where he stated there was "no chance" he would return for the film.
