Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Breaks Spider-Man: No Way Home Presales Record.

The concert documentary Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which is coming to theaters on October 13, breaks a pre-sale record set by Spider-Man: No Way Home.

"Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" concert film has earned a massive $26 million in pre-sale tickets at AMC Theatres – the biggest single-day ticket sale record for AMC to date.

That number slaps down a previous record held by “Spider-Man: No Way Home” which earned $16.9 million in its first 24 hours – a number that the Swift film reportedly passed in less than three hours.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour takes fans on an emotional and fun journey that covers each of the eras that Swift has gone through as part of the music industry, performing songs from each of her nine main albums, and also including stories from her childhood, youth, lovers and friends.

The tour itself is already set to become the highest-grossing event in music history, but that record is not enough for Taylor and her amazing army of fans. The ticket presales via AMC, who are also acting as distributor, for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie has broken the record set by Spider-Man: No Way Home and reaching $26 million dollars on the first day. More impressive still, if other cinema chains including Regal and Cinemark are added, then Swift has also taken down Star Wars: The Force Awakens opening day presale by taking over $37 million, with most of the theaters already sold out.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour was filmed during the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike, which has raised the question about how Taylor Swift was allowed to do this despite being a member of the union. The main reason is that it is a concert film and not a work involving dramatic acting (it also did not require writers, giving it a pass during the WGA writers' strike). However, Swift still had to apply for approval from SAG-AFTRA to allow filming. There have been some exceptions to the Hollywood strikes for movies that meet certain guidelines.
