If Hollywood Goes On Strike, Actors May Head For Broadway

New York theaters could be indirect beneficiaries of a strike by the Screen Actors Guild, New York Post columnist Neal Travis observed today (Tuesday). Travis noted that the producers of the hit off-Broadway show The Unexpected Man have been receiving numerous calls from agents for "big name" Hollywood stars hoping to replace the current star, Alan Bates, when he leaves the cast on Jan. 28. Among those waiting in the wings: Gene Hackman, Peter O'Toole, James Earl Jones, Michael Caine, Albert Finney, Jason Robards and Nick Nolte.
