Courteney Cox in Talks to Return for 'Scream VII'.

Courteney Cox is reportedly in talks to reprise her role as Gale Weathers in the seventh film of the Scream franchise. Cox is the only legacy character to have appeared in all six films, which could make her return inevitable.

Original star Neve Campbell is also back for the new installment, which hails from franchise creator Kevin Williamson.

Cox was the only surviving cast member in Scream VI to have also appeared in director Wes Craven’s original Scream nearly 30 years ago in the original 1996 horror classic. Scream 4’s Hayden Panettiere also appeared in the franchise’s sixth installment, but there’s no indication yet that her character of Kirby Reed might also show up in Scream 7.

After sitting out of Scream 6 due to a salary dispute, Neve Campbell, 50, announced in early March that she will be playing Sidney again in the seventh movie.

"I'm very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!!" Campbell wrote in her statement. "Well, actually I could. While I’ve been so incredibly lucky to make these films with both the master of horror Wes Craven and the wonderfully talented Matt and Tyler team, I’ve dreamt for many years of how amazing it would be to make one of these movies with Kevin Williamson at the helm. And now it’s happening, Kevin Williamson is going to direct Scream 7! This was his baby and it’s his brilliant mind that dreamt up this world."
