Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are set to share the screen again, this time in crime thriller RIP.
The film will be produced under Damon and Affleck's production company, Artists Equity, with plans to start shooting this fall.
While details about the plot are being closely guarded, the film is described as a crime thriller, sparking significant interest from both theatrical and streaming platforms looking to acquire distribution rights.
Affleck has reportedly just wrapped production on The Accountant 2 and is ready to keep working, and now we know another project of his is on the horizon. Affleck and Damon were originally going to make a different crime thriller together with a movie called Animals, but it has since fallen through.
Affleck and Damon released Air last year to much success. The biopic about the origins of the Air Jordan made $90 million at the box office ahead of becoming available to stream with an Amazon Prime subscription. The movie earned positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, and was even in the conversation for awards season, earning two Golden Globe nominations
The first time Damon and Affleck appeared in a film together goes back to the 1980s, with the two having roles in 1989's Field of Dreams. They'd later go on to be featured in eight more movies, including 1992's School Ties, 1997's Good Will Hunting, 1997's Chasing Amy, 1999's Dogma, 2001's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, 2019's Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, 2021's The Last Duel, and 2023's Air.
