A Devil Wears Prada Sequel Is In the Works, With Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt.

A potential sequel to 2006 classic "The Devil Wears Prada" appears to be in early development at Disney.

The original film's writer, Aline Brosh McKenna, is penning a would-be follow-up to the hit film that is being developed and produced by Wendy Finerman, who was behind the original.

No deals are in place yet, and it's too early to tell whether any of the original cast will return. But Puck, which first reported the news, says Meryl Streep is expected to reprise her role as the fashion magazine editor-in-chief Priestly.

Starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, "The Devil Wears Prada" was an adaptation of the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger and quickly became a runaway hit, earning nearly $326 million worldwide at the box office against just a $35 million budget.

The film follows an aspiring journalist (Hathaway) who takes an assistant position to the tyrannical editor-in-chief (Streep) of one of the premiere fashion magazines in the world. The film perfectly captures the mentor/mentee bond that can form even under toxic circumstances. Many in the fashion industry were actually afraid to participate with the film for fear of how it aimed to depict their world and the difficult personalities within it.
