Hayden Panettiere will star in "A Breed Apart", the upcoming sequel/part re-imagining of the widely panned 2006 Wes Craven-produced horror feature "The Breed".

The new movie will serve as a sequel to Wes Craven's 2006 horror movie The Breed.

Nicholas Mastandrea helmed the original film which follows two brothers and their friends who travel to an island cabin they inherited from their recently deceased uncle.

Their getaway is soon spoiled when they find themselves besieged by ravenous genetically enhanced dogs bred to kill via an abandoned training facility on the island.

Joey Bragg, Troy Gentile, Riele Downs and Page Kennedy will all appear. They join the previously announced Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey, who were seen together in vertigo-inducing Grindstone/Lionsgate release Fall.

The plot of A Breed Apart sees a pack of dogs escape during the making of a fictional The Breed 2 movie during filming on a remote island. Years later, a group of YouTubers are drawn to the island to try and find the canines in a project they hope goes viral and which is the brainchild of influencer Vince Venture, who is played by Bragg. The reality is that they face a fight for survival and each of the influencers must use their unique skills to stay alive.
