Another Plea To The Supreme Court To Permit TV Coverage

Following the rejection of a petition by CNN and C-SPAN to the U.S. Supreme Court to allow TV cameras to cover its proceedings on Friday regarding the Florida recount, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) has urged the high court to reconsider. Calling for the court to give the public "meaningful access" to the proceedings via TV and radio, it offered to arrange a meeting between the Supreme Court staff and representatives of the news media to explain how unobtrusive such coverage could be. In a letter to the court, RTNDA President Barbara Cochran wrote: "Without television coverage of these historic proceedings, the public will be forced once again to depend on second-hand accounts."
