Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz are set to star in their fourth movie together, 'Day Drinker', from the producers of the John Wick franchise.
The film will be directed by Marc Webb, who previously helmed Andrew Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man movies. Day Drinker could be seen as a Hollywood comeback film for Depp, as it's the first major role in an American film he's had since his famous legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp has since appeared in the French film Jeanne du Barry and directed the Italian film Modi: Three Days on the Wings of Madness, both of which were developed with European backers.
Based on an original spec screenplay by Zach Dean, Day Drinker watches as a cruise ship bartender meets a mysterious day drinker - only for both of them to find themselves entangled in a criminal underbelly, and connected in unexpected ways.
Commenting on the announcement, Lionsgate chairman Adam Fogelson says: "Day Drinker combines a highly commercial concept with wildly outrageous twists and turns all set in an incredible world, and there is no better filmmaker than Marc or two more perfectly cast actors than Johnny and Penélope to bring that world to life."
Drinker will mark the fourth time that Depp and Cruz have worked together, after Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Murder on the Orient Express.
