Josh O'Connor is set to co-star opposite Emily Blunt in Steven Spielberg's New Sci-Fi Movie.

O’Connor joins the previously announced Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson in the film, which is scheduled for May 15, 2026 from Universal.

Spielberg is directing from a script by David Koepp, whose previous work with the filmmaker includes "Jurassic Park" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". The studio has described the project as a "new original event film", though specific plot details haven't been revealed. The screenplay is based on a story by Spielberg and expected to incorporate sci-fi elements.

Steven Spielberg is of course no stranger to extraterrestrial encounters, directing two of the greatest alien movies of all time: Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977 and E.T. in 1982.

O’Connor won an Emmy for his performance as Prince Charles on “The Crown” Season 4, and earned rave reviews for his performance as troubled former tennis prodigy Patrick Zwieg in “Challengers.” He will next be seen in the third “Knives Out” movie, “Wake Up Dead Man,” and the historical romance drama “The History of Sound” with Paul Mescal.
