Colin Farrell in Talks To Join Dcu in Luca Guadagnino's 'Sgt. Rock' Film.

Colin Farrell has entered into talks to star in Luca Guadagnino’s World War II DC war film 'Sgt Rock'.

The news follows reports from late last year that Daniel Craig was circling the role, though DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed last month that no official offer was ever extended to the former James Bond actor.

If it happens, Farrell will play Sgt. Rock, the leader of Easy Company, the combat unit fighting Nazi forces in Europe. This already would make Sgt. Rock much, much different from your average superhero movie and perhaps it’ll be pretty dark, gritty, grounded and unlike the rest of DC.

Luca Guadagnino is set to direct from a script by screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, who penned Guadagnino’s ‘Challengers and Queer.’ Farrell would take on the role of the tough-as-nails leader of Easy Company, the combat unit fighting Nazi forces in Europe.

Farrell recently won the Golden Globe for his performance as Oz Cobb in DC's The Penguin miniseries. Farrell will reprise his Penguin role in Matt Reeves' The Batman - Part II, and there's a chance The Penguin season 2 could materialize due to the first season's massive success.
